Wooster Interfaith Housing Staff
Memorable Anecdotes From Work “One funny thing that happened to me was when a couple came in and asked for a death certificate.”~Lora Snodgrass “I work on the maintenance staff, and it makes me feel really good when I go to a tenant’s house who is appreciative of the help our organization is giving them.” ~Mark Stover “A memorable anecdote for me is seeing an agency peer go into labor at a training seminar in Columbus!” ~Jean Hollenbaugh “We have a small vending machine in our office kitchen and I had asked the vendor for Coke. When the machine was filled, I was at lunch and when I came back I noticed there was no Coke. When I inquired of my trusted staff what had happened, they told me: ‘No one here drinks Coke, so we told him not to put any in the machine.’Lesson learned: Don’t go to lunch!” ~Penny Osborne “WIHC was able to move a couple and their newborn into housing after the couple became homeless one month before the baby was born.” ~Veronica Miller “My favorite anecdote would have to be when I got my cat Rel. Someone had abandoned her in our play area at WIHC. She is a constant reminder to me that homelessness is abandonment - abandonment by our society. We are all only one bad decision from being homeless ourselves!” ~Cathy Lanham “I remember getting the program house tenants ‘Christmas gifts’ off their wish lists, which consisted of household supplies: vacuums, dishes, irons.” ~Julie Miller “Interfaith is where homes can be found for the homeless with a warm and friendly welcome by the people who work to give a helping hand to the less fortunate.” ~Irene Nabeau |
